Why good design is a business decision, not just an aesthetic one

Design shapes behavior. The way a form is laid out determines whether users complete it. The way a pricing page is structured influences which plan they choose. The way an onboarding flow is designed determines how many users actually reach the "aha moment" and stick around.

Most companies treat design as decoration — something that happens after the product decisions are made. The best product teams know that design is where product decisions get made. Layout, hierarchy, flow, and feedback are all product decisions wearing a visual coat.

Good UI/UX design reduces support tickets, increases conversion, improves retention, and makes your product feel worth the price you're charging for it.

How I approach design projects

I design from user goals and business constraints, not personal aesthetic preferences. Every decision can be justified.

• User flows and wireframes first to validate the structure before investing time in high-fidelity visuals
• Figma components and auto-layout so designs are responsive and handoff-ready, not static screenshots
• Design tokens for color, typography, and spacing so the system stays consistent as it grows
• Interactive prototypes for user testing before a line of code is written

Whether I'm handing off to another developer or building it myself, everything I design is production-realistic — no impossible layouts, no missing states, no mystery hover styles.
