Mobile App Development

Cross-platform apps with Flutter and React Native.

Why cross-platform mobile makes sense for most product teams

Maintaining two separate native codebases — Swift for iOS, Kotlin for Android — means double the development time, double the bugs, and double the knowledge needed to ship a feature. For most startups and product teams, that's a cost they can't justify.

Modern cross-platform frameworks like Flutter and React Native close the gap with native significantly. Flutter in particular compiles to native ARM code and renders using its own engine, which means no bridge overhead and near-native performance. Most users can't tell the difference.

The right choice between Flutter and React Native depends on your product, your team, and your performance requirements. I'll give you an honest recommendation instead of pushing you toward what's trendier.

How I build cross-platform apps that feel native

I don't treat cross-platform as a shortcut — I treat it as a different set of tools with their own best practices.

  • Flutter with Dart for apps where custom UI and animation quality are top priorities
  • React Native with Expo for teams who want to share logic and developers with a web codebase
  • Native modules where platform APIs need direct access — camera, biometrics, health data
  • Fastlane for automated App Store and Play Store releases without manual upload steps

Both stores have different review requirements, and I know both well enough to get your app through on the first submission.
